Fat and Determined

Hello everyone! Today is my first day and I am more than determined to start and shed some(MANY) pounds. I used to be an amazing, healthy 120, but had two kids and got lazy to a very depressing 200lbs. I hate that I'm out of breath just by walking to my car. I would like to have a partner to join me on this journey. I would also love to have the support of someone who is experienced and can answer any questions I may have. We can do this!

I’m also a noob. I’m a couple weeks in to this, and have managed to lose 15 pounds already!  The app works pretty well and if you work at keeping the carbs down, the rest just seems to happen!  I am “cheating” a bit, as I started walking every day as well as using the 8/16 intermittent fasting method along with 20gram keto. The point is, if you accurately count carbs you can and will rock this!

richorn that's amazing! I'm doing 16g net carbs. Did you initially start fasting or did you get used to the keto diet first?

JediMadre I actually started everything at once.  I knew zero about dieting of any kind...   never had to before, and then oops, a few years of bigger and bigger.  I know a couple of friends that do Keto, and a couple that talked about intermittent fasting, so a couple emails, and a couple days on the net, and bang. CarbManager, a crapload of stuff from Amazon, and my Apple Watch.  I am combining all as I really want to know off 40 or 50 ponds as soon as I can, and then settle back into a "real life" diet where I can maintain and build muscle.  I know a 3 month plan isn't realistic, but I figure if I try harder the chances are better.  So far I am knocking off about a pound a day.

richorn That sounds amazing. After reading your post I decided to research fasting and started the 16/8, yesterday. We have the same goals. I want to get rid of all this excess weight as quickly as possible. Then maintain it after I reach my goal weight. I can relate to your Amazon purchases. I did the same. Did you experience the Keto flu? I had minor symptoms, but overall I've been feeling great. Do you weigh yourself or take measurements? I'm going to do both, but weekly so I'm not discouraged.

@JediMadre  No keto flu for me.  I have felt pretty good.  Even better after the first few days.  I have automated everything...  Apple Watch for vitals, fancy scale for daily measurement of weight, water, body fat, etc.  I even added a wifi blood pressure cuff.  The apps kind of tell me what is working and what could improve.  I even have a sleep app that tells me when to go to bed lol!  It is interesting to see my sleep improve as the days go by.  Bottom line, all the toys work for me, as this is my first ever diet, and I know nothing! ;-)

  • I’m new here as well!  I never had to worry about my weight too until a couple of years ago when I had a couple of unfortunate events that got me down and I shot up to 188 lbs. I started to IF and Keto and lost 20 pounds. I had been losing before the quarantine but I’ve gained back some weight and I need to get back on track. I would love to be partners but have no idea how to friend request yet 😊.

I’m in a similar boat. My mom passed and some other major stressors. I need to lose 35-40.  But I have no accountability. I’d love to connect with some one to help stay on track.

  • I’m sorry for your loss ♥️. My mom passed away too which I dealt with everything by doing what I was supposed to and not taking the time to actually grieve. Let’s help each other out. We can do this!
