  • There could be numerous reasons why. Without knowing more about you it’s hard to say. Are you eating whole foods or keto friendly prepackaged foods? Are you drinking enough water? Are you snacking between meals? These are just a few things that could have an impact on weight loss. Plus you may just need to give your body time to adjust.

Kristie Friars ~ thanks!! We do most of our own cooking...very little pre-packaged foods.  very little to no snacking, if I do it’s about 6-8 almonds and some pork grinds ~ I also do IF for about 12-16 hrs.  It’s true maybe my body just needs some time to catch up.

I’m also having a hard time getting into ketosis ~ I do the blood meter every morning and never get higher than .7 🥴
I am not giving up though, I’m in it for the long haul!! 💪🏼

how are you doing with your journey??

Letsdothis Good news!  Anything .5 or above IS ketosis!  Hang with it, as Kristie said, it takes a while.

My readings tell me that just as folks respond differently to macros settings, so too folks have various responses to ketone production.  ANYthing over .5 is good, and there are no ‘extra points’ for higher readings.  As the body becomes fat adapted, you might see an increase; again, not to worry if not.

As for weight loss, consider this.  The fat macro is a limit (not to exceed) rather than a goal (must consume that much).  By restricting carbs, we make the body burn fat.  There are two kinds of fat available to burn: dietary fat that we eat, and adipose fat that is stored throughout the body.  The more dietary fat we eat, the less requirement the body has to burn stored fat.  It’s a zero-sum game: less of one means more of the other.

So you might consider cutting your dietary fats down below the macro setting (no need to change the macro - use it as a reminder of your fats limit).

    Hope this helps.

  • Letsdothis  My journey has slowed, but I know why and that’s okay. My focused changed for awhile, but I think I’ll be ready to refocus 100% soon. I’m still eating mostly a ketogenic diet, I’m not gaining weight and I feel good so that’s a win in my books. It’s supposed to be a lifestyle so I feel if I’m not 100% on my game I’m not going to stress about it. I’m still mindful of what I eat.

I wish you success on your journey!

Pat F  thank you Pat!! Great points!! I was concerned about meeting the fat macro, but than I saw KetoRewind on YouTube and Jess says ~ my body is a 24 hr fat buffet!! Ha!! So I do concentrate more on protein and carbs!  I’m going to continue with this journey!! The struggles of today will be worth it tomorrow!!

Good for you!! Knowing the why is half the battle!! It’s not a moment in time, our journey is a lifetime!! We can’t be beating ourselves up all the time!! But if we know the “why” to lose the weight we can keep our eyes on that!! For me! It is my sons’ wedding coming up next spring!! And I would like to feel and look my best everyday!!
