I went way over my fats and proteins but am still under on my carbs, should I be worried about being kicked out of ketosis?

No it is always ok to be under on your carbs. The higher your fat % the better.

  • Fat does not brake down into glycogen, like carbohydrates, and a small amount of protein. All you need do is go on or under on protein.

  • I believe too much protein turns into fat. I’m new to keto so I am making daily mistakes in my ratios. I keep perfecting as I go. If I get too many calories or protein I try to throw in extra excerisize as the protein will help with muscle tone if utilized. I’m finding as I perfect getting the fat I need total calories increase faster. At first my fat was way under. I started May 6 2018 and lost about 8lbs. I haven’t weighed in the last 3 days. I’m now getting more excercise so Think my scale may slow down due to muscle increase. Which is ok as clothes are fitting better.

  • Hi- this is so helpful!  I’m so glad this post is up. I started about 2 weeks ago. Surprisingly I’m better with my carb intake than I anticipated. I too am going over on protein. I would appreciate any tips on how to keep this in check. I’m happy to be on this journey with all you. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying so hard and logging everything.

My understanding is keto is about % so if your protien is highb you should add a significant amont of fat. I do this everyday with keto-tea (you could use keto-coffee or keto-hot chocolate). And coconut supplements. You could also use fat-bombs.

  • too much proteins and fats aren't going to kick you out of ketosis, unless you are consuming mass quantities of protein. Most people need 0.8 grams of protein per pound of body weight so unless you are significantly over that, you should be fine. That being said, if you are consuming too much fat, you aren't going to lose any weight. Your body will take all that extra fat you consume and use it for energy instead of taking the fat from your body and using it for fuel. That's my biggest problem. I've been eating way too many fat grams, I have a snack problem. lol. I've stayed under my 25 grams of net carbs for 3 weeks since I started keto, but there are so many yummy alternatives to the snacks that I used to eat. Fat bombs have become a problem for me. I need to learn to stick to my main meals each day with controlled and planned snacks in between. If I can plan all my snacks ahead of time, then I know how many calories, fats, proteins and carbs I will be eating for the entire day instead of just winging it and failing every time.
