Ketosis but little weight loss

I've been doing keto for several months and have lost 9 pounds, most of which was in the first month. Very slow process now. I have been taking my blood ketones and I am averaging around 1.1 - 1.8.  My calories are usually under 1000 a day, usually much lower and my carbs are always under 20nc.  Usually I am up and down the same pound for a week now.  What do I need to incorporate into my diet? Any suggestions?

  • I think people expect dramatic, quick and painless weight loss with keto- probably because of the media hype. It’s restrictive, it’s a diet and it’s work- like all food programs. It works if you stick to it. No big magic wand that gets the weight off in a month. Slow steady and consistent effort is the way to lose weight. I am losing at about a pound a week and that sometimes freaks me out- omg!!! When will this be over????? Fact is, it is never going to be over. It’s a lifestyle. Once I go to the second phase of maintenance I will add more carbs back in but it’s still going to require effort and tracking! Keto is wonderful but it’s not magic!!! If I restrict my calories too much To speed things up, then I get rebellious and think of “ cheating” and if I do that I undo EVERYTHING I worked for the preceding weeks!! Not worth it. So for me, it’s slow, steady and consistent. One pound or so a week is better than no pounds and that’s better than gaining a pound, which, is pretty easy to do!
