Blood Sugar

I have been on keto for over a week now.  I have not went over my carbs but my blood sugar is all over the place.  My fasting bs ranges from 125-200.  Anyone else having problems with their blood sugar??

  • Blood sugar is the primary reason I'm doing this.  My problem is my morning fasting number.  It goes down throughout the day, but every morning it's high.  My Dr. says it's the "dawn phenomenon."   Is that what you're experiencing?

A huge, life changing, learn for me last year was the impact of stress on my blood sugar levels.  When I say my boss was making me sick, I mean my boss was making me sick.  My nutritionist had me keep a little journal.  Just noted good day, okay day, bad day, really bad day... Simple.  After one particularly really bad day, I woke up with a blood sugar level of 300.  So, I've found a new job, and my blood sugars are coming under control.

That may not be your issue, but definitely pay attention to it.

Yes, my blood sugar is very high in the morning but lowers during the day.  I must be experiencing   “The dawn phenomenon.” I am just worried that the high morning reading will increase my A-1C.  I am hoping to be able to get off all of my diabetic meds soon.

  • It will increase your A-1C.  I'm struggling with the same thing, and I have the same goal.  Let's keep up with each other.  It's a fight worth fighting.  I've lost family to diabetes, and as I see it creeping into my generation of cousins, it scares me.  One of my cousins was undiagnosed and wound up in a coma a couple years ago.

If you have Netflix, watch The Magic Pill.  It's helped me maintain my motivation.

We definitely need to keep in contact with each other.  We can lean on each other and give support.   This will be a long hard battle but so worth it.  I’ve been a diabetic for a few years .  My stress level is very high with my job.  My boss is a complete jerk.  I have gain almost 70 pounds since I started working for him (2 1/2 years) My starting weight was 335.  I have lost 9 pounds since the beginning of the year.  My goal for the year is to lose 120 pounds.  My ultimate goal weight is 150.

  • We are sisters!  I left a job that I loved for 12 years because of one jerk who just came in about 2 years ago.  I had to take a significant pay cut, but oh, I'm feeling better and better.  I'm still figuring out this 'community' on the app.  I'm going to try sending you a friend request.

  • My blood sugar was higher than normal this morning, and I had zero carbs at dinner last night.  I did a little reading online yesterday.  I'm going to start checking my blood sugar in the middle of the night to figure this out.  I was inspired to read up on this yesterday.  This article was enlightening.

Oddly enough, I wake up every night around 2:30-3 am, and now I'm wondering if I'm getting a glucose dump to my blood stream about then.

i just read the article you sent me.  It does make a lot of sense.  I will be checking my bs during the night to see what kind of reading I get.  Hopefully we both can get our bs under control with no high reading.
