Online calculator keto values & research don’t match up w/app values

Hi :)

My confusion is this:
I had read u need 5% carbs, 20% protein & 75% fat for ketosis.
Then i did the online ketosis calculator & that worked out to 20 g of carbs, 58 g of protein & 80g of fat, & 1032 calories.
But when i went to set it up in the macros settings with those grams/percents, it wouldn’t give me those figures so i’m confused. It has me at 6g of carbs a day (which feels very low), 39g of fat & only 31 protein (again seems very low). Can someone please explain this to me.

  • Percentages are in calories and not grams. For example:

    Carbs: 20 g x 4 C/g = 80 C

    Protein: 58 g x 4 C/g = 232 C

    Fat: 80 g x 9 C/g = 720 C

    Total = 1032 C

    Carbs = 80/1032 = 7.8%

    Protein = 232/1032 = 22.5%

    Fat = 720/1032 = 69.8%

  • You just need to change the values in carb manager to what you were given originally.

    Those 2nd numbers are ridiculous. Not sure where those came from.

    As we’re being taught that it’s Carbs that matter and not Calorie counting why then does this Keto App default to Carbs on the biggest graphic on our screen?

    ...so that you can quickly see how many carbs you have consumed in a day.  I want to be able to quickly see  that carb count.
