weigh, log and track every morsel I put into my mouth. It’s a must for me. It’s amazing how popping a few cherry tomatoes into my mouth or a few berries add up, not to mention a bite here or bite there. Before I know it, I’ve consumed my daily carb limit and my calories are quickly adding up.Measuring and Counting
Anyone who serious, should do this.
It amount to balancing your checking account rather than guessing how much you have in your account and then writing a check.
My nephew initially went on what he though was the Ketogenic Diet.
However, it was a high protein, high fat, low carbohydrate diet. He was never in ketosis.
Eye Ball Measuring
His method of measuring macros was as he put it, Eye Balling it. That was a didn't work.
As Aloha stated, even on a Ketogenic Diet, you need maintain a calorie deficit to lose weight.
Metabolic Condition
I am on the Ketogenic Diet due to a metabolic condition; not for weight loss.
I initially lost 17 lb in 35 days by combining Intermittent Fasting (2 meals a day) with the Ketogenic Diet.
I then decided to gain the weight back on Keto.
I do so by dramatically increasing my fat calories with slight increase in protein intake (ensuring my protein intake was 25% or less), while maintaining my carbohydrates at 50 gram or less.
The Take Home Message
Calories on all diet count.

Yes, in fact, it’s very easy on Keto to eat more calories than you should. It’s still calories in - Calories out that determines weight loss. With Keto, I am not hungry, I feel better and my brain fog has disappeared. If you are having trouble keeping your calories under, then perhaps try 2 meals....or intermittent fasting. Good luck.
