Big question about exogenous ketone supplements.
While ketones as a by product of burning fat makes perfect sense to me, creating positive ketone tests by adding ketones from external use seems only that - a positive test which might make me feel “successful” as if they were coming from increased fat metabolism.
I think there must be something more than this that some of you are experiencing ! Wd you please describe further ? Thanks !
My ketone salts shd arrive tomorrow via amazon. I’ll give them a try to see if continued feeling strong with continued drop in pounds still works.

carolmotsinger don’t really want to go off thread but intermittent fasting comes naturally to me as I am not hungry ~ perhaps we should start a day in the life of each of us.... to see what we’re eating. Do you exercise? I’m not, turns out separate health issues but nor did I plan to until I was nearing goal & my body has less work to do eliminating toxins & burning my fat!

I remember reading a post here: by badmojomn she said the salts essentially help ease the transition into a ketogenic diet. That you wouldn’t totally be using your own body fat as a full potential for energy source. So you would actually loose more body fat if you didn't take these supplements if you’re already fat adapted. Great for those suffering the keto flu!

I bought some keto salts, will come in today. Have just finished huge project which send hubby and I in for lunch each day past 3 days. Now today back to full 16:8 IF and <=20 net keto diet. Tested bw 0 and tr keto this morning. Might play w the keto salts to see how keto +++ one day turns into keto ??? the next day without the salts. And how all this comes out w both general subjective feeling of wellbeing/energy , more objective measures of the same (what do I actually do that day ) and of course target weight maintenance and further loss. I was at 7# down, gained back 2# and have maintened that latter 5# net loss. Let’s see whathappens now !

So Sorry if this is already posted but if anyone has a rec on which MTC oil to purchase I appreciate it. As a former carbaholic/vegetarian I am having a hard time letting go into the fat consumption world but am committed to giving it 100%. I've been at it only 10 days with conviction and have a lost a few pounds without working out. This was the one I found for ketogenic diet but there's so many that I hate to pick blindly:

Drinking KetoDrive in H20 throughout the day (yes it does taste like Tang but I keep adding water to dilute and weaker's better tasting) . Added MCT to coffee this morning. Keto testing positive and increasing color through the day. Will see how this goes but suspect I will continue with the MCT and let the Keto go. Would most prefer to see keto positive due to my own metabolic changes (fat burn) than because i took it in. Just thought I'd try this, though, so will probably give it a week or so. Reading further on its effects with athletics, still prefer food ha ha

carolmotsinger been thinking about you in the early hours ~ I remember reading somewhere in the past(!) that our bodies reach a certain point of weightloss & decide this is enough fat loss, triggering your appetite as it has a mind set to return to a memory of your highest weight. That you have to stick to maintaining your current weight to break the cycle & let it readjust it’s memory ~ I wasn’t dreaming even if it sounds like it! Hang on in there we’re rooting for you.

I have some time in the mornings a bit now. Here is a thread from YouTube, a guy who is a body builder on keto. If you can get past the vulgar language, it makes sense. I started burning fat once I listened to this guy. Please don't listen around children. He's passionate in his own theory and he actually does RESEARCH because he has to carry a physic to be in contests. Please watch.

Joanna thanks. I like the analize function of the app, I see patterns. My set point is moving but very slowly. Like a pound a month. Then it bounces up and down a few pounds. I'm reading a book from Dr Berg's and tweaking my protein and trying to break the in between meal snacking. Hopefully adding more protein and veggies to each meal will help with the hunger between meals.

Yes, same here. Just ordered a trial bottle of Brain Octane oil fm Bulletproof, which I’ll compare a bit w MCT just fit the feel of it as well as obj data (scale and keto stix). On a 5 day keto break right now - day2- but using the MCT and fasting 12-16 hrs/day. Keto salts are going back to AMZ. Great they let u do that !
