Confused and not losing any more?
Hi all,
I need help here I'm a 60 yr old female that needs to lose 80 lbs. I've been on the lchf for 2mths now. In the beginning I lost 12 lbs really fast and now I'm gaining about 1 lbs a week for the last 2 week's? Still in ketosis & checking all the time. I log everything I eat. I'm really trying hard only. Only 13 net carbs a day max. Help please?

Try going 20 net and stick to it. The fats shoood be higher than your proteins. With women- loss can be slow. Im going to guess if your not eating outside your carb limit - you may need to tweak the carbs. But remember- put that scale away for awhile ! It can be evil! Fat doesn't weight much- have a pair of jeans that are reall snug to go by. Heck I used a pair I couldn't pull past my thighs! Pull them out every two - three weeks! Don't give up! Your body will start melting next month or two - I'm thinking.

yatesa12 typically I eat 2 eggs and bacon uncured for breakfast.
Lunch chicken or fish and small dish with greens or a 2 cup spinach salad with 1or 2 HB eggs, 3 kalamata olives, 5 cucumber slices and a bit of Walden farms zero everything dressing...
Dinner. Easy it's need mostly Ribeye or Filet Mignon or roasted Chicken normally between 6-10 oz of beef, small salad again no eggs though. I do have about 4 oz of sugar free jello parfait made at home with subing 1/2 the water for some heavy whipping cream. So it tastes creamy. (Its my vice)

elchalk if whatever your doing hasn't moved in roughly 2 months try just going up to 20. Keep in mind also total carb counts. I'm finding things with high carbs to begin with then take away net carbs can hinder me anyhow. Like my black bean organic pasta, etc. it's very low net but high total. Not sure about your med. I would suggest googling the med with "ketosis" or ketogenic results etc. That's for nerve pain right ?

badmojomn normally they use it for nerve pain, but I have rheumatoid arthritis and it helps me cut down on the opioids and anti-inflammatory stuff I take...So sometimes a bit more net carbs is better? I've been trying to keep away from any total carbs that are high too. I will try increasing my carbs some and Google the meds.
Thanks again,
Ellen

elchalk just try it for say two weeks. Cut back on any nuts also. Keep the calorie counts low. NO artificial sweetners for 1 month if you can handle that. I see your eating a bit of salads. I would cut back on that for 1 month or so and see what happens. I would make a homemade dressing if you can or buy blue cheese or make a ceasor dressing. Hidden naughty treasures in those dressings. Eat more butter. I just browned some seasoned ground beef with black pepper and other powders and put some in a med sized coffee cup and hid about 2-3 tablespoons of reall butter in there. I'm so full right now. Hoping this breaks a small stall I have.

elchalk go with what you did years ago just don't unmindfully eat. Only eat when hungry until just satisfied. Try a little fruit strawberry or raspberry in evening 2 times weekly. Fast ( go without food if your up for it in the morning or whenever). Push that hunger button if you can. Don't look at the clock " oh I should eat because it's lunch time". Eat when your hungry. Absorb all the info you can. We can't tell you what your doing wrong, just that your doing right. Don't beat yourself up about the scale or fat loss. Just keep doing what your doing. Your metabolism may be just stubborn- this could be insulin resistance. I just dropped 1 pound overnight because I tried someone else's tip of hamb seasoned with butter in a coffee cup about 230 pm yesterday and I was full. I had 1 egg and 3 breakfast sausage links in butter- coffee, water, slice of low carb pizza( small). I bring my calorie counts down by lesser portions and I'm full. I thought I had to eat like 2 eggs, 5 strips of bacon. That's not neccesary for me. If you think long term, year or two, for me lifetime, your prize is at the end.

elchalk try 1 egg and bacon swarming in butter on top, no sugar free jello or a lot less, non if you can, lunch-4 ounce chicken- very small salad w/ homemade dressing (ving/oil , or blue cheese(Mayo, sour cream, garlic, butter milk, blue cheese crumbles, or homemade butter mike ranch)or cut up chicken and egg in Mayo, cut up egg and tuna in Mayo. If your in the states and like blue cheese dressing -Lighthouse has a good one but home Made is best.

badmojomn thank you for all the ideas over the past few days...so this is very interesting, yesterday I felt very hungry and instead of trying to put so much effort in to counting calories and proteins, I ate a lot more fat and a little less protein didn't even look at calories... Guess what happened? This morning I was in the moderate range ketosis which is up 1 level, but I weighed again (my bad) and lost 2 lbs! So I think you are right! I might be too worried about protein and not eating enough fats. I'll keep this up for a bit and see if the loss continues. BTW you rock!

Help me! Please I’m new to this started 1 week ago! How do I know how many calories to consume? Reason I ask is I tried this a year ago and don’t lose but 3 lbs at that time I didn’t worry about calories and I think that was the problem eating too many calories. I’m 51 5’7 I weigh 171lbs and want to lose 15-20lbs also can I use the erythritol sparingly?

klcicero I personally would not use ANY artificial sweeteners. If I REALLY have to have a mixed cocktail, I will use Stevia "Zevia" soda from advice of a ketogenic body builder I have chatted with. The sweeteners tell your body things we don't want them to tell us. I really didn't loose much weight when I ate sugar alcohols last year and now I know why. This is my personal experience and may give someone else a different outcome but for those of us who don't have say 40+ to loose, it's going to be a more difficult journey. Staying away from all artificial sweetners is my key for my body. I have read up on these by ketogenic people and they mostly say the same. I have been watching butter Bob on YouTube. He lost a lot also. Advocate of staying away from it all. So I will stick to that.

klcicero I'm going to guess to stay under 1500, but for more calorie restriction for your weight I would shoot for 1400-1300. Fats should be higher than protein no matter what. Eat clean, no Adkins treats ! Let's get you through possible keto flu first and go from there. Avacados are a helper for now if you like them. Remember age and 15-20 pounds plays a role in this. You have to give it months to see results at times. Fat should be 80-90-100 grams and protein I think for your weight about 60-70. There are particular calculators for ketonians out there for this. Each meal shouldn't be more than say 3/4 ounces of proteins. I never sit down to a huge steak and eat it all. I know that as my problem last time. Too much food. When your fat adapted then you can start your intermittent fasting. Don't eat by the clock. Eat when your hunger pangs hit you and keep portions smaller than you think. Put that scale away and use a tight pair of jeans and pull them out every 2-3 weeks or so. I purposely buy really tight jeans now that are small for me to wear in public and use that as my motivator. For woman the best feeling is fitting into those jeans or slacks we have been dreaming of. I didn't see good results for first 3 months. This is a lifetime lifestyle for me. I know eventually I'll be where I want to be and might take a year. Im okay with that. My body has carried this fat for a really long time.

badmojomn Hi thanks for the info I was also thinking 1300-1500 calories so I will try that. Now for no sweetners Yikes what do you eat for dessert or if you just want a little something? I have been eating raspberries with whipped cream.....is that Okay? Do you have any other suggestions? I really really need to see some results so I can keep this going. Thanks for your help

klcicero badmojomn ,badmojomn is right, I can't have any as I call them 'fake sugar' too. I do stay in the Keto zone, but don't loose. If I keep them out and don't adjust anything else... I loose again. If I want someone sweet tasting, then a low carb shake actually works. Don't ask me why... they got some sweeteners in it. I use Adkins Nutritional shakes and Premier Protein shakes, both are low carb. Not every day though... a every day same food can stall you too.
Sticking to it is a Super Power.
