Water Intake

Newbie question here. I've just started yesterday, and I have a question about our water intake. I have myself down for 95 oz of water a day. Is that strictly JUST water, or do other forms of liquid count? Like tea. Also, I've read a bit about needing electrolytes. Is one Nuun Hydration Electrolyte tablet a day probably going to  be good for taking care of that?

  • To much water depletes sodium and potassium. We need 4700  grams of potassium and 1000 grams sodium in our ket o diet daily. The more water you drink the more you lose these important minerals . I use to drink water 8 glasses  or more a day until I found Dr Eric Berg on YouTube where he explained how water depletes the above minerals and cause headaches and leg cramps. I learned how to recognize when I was thirsty instead of automatically  drinking water cause of the 8 glasses a day rule. I've lost 40 lbs by watching his videos on intermittent fasting and keto. Check him out YouTube

  • Thank you. I’ve only just started watching Dr. Berg’s videos. Good to know. I’ve been on the verge of leg cramps at night.

  • Mairlyn pedersen eat kale spinage green pepper, avocado all are high in potassium. Also I drink every three days mix  4 ounces lemon juice 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar , 1/4 teaspoon of pink  salt.   keeps my potassium levels up. But I eat a lot of green  veggies veggies

Green veggies every day helps with keeping my potassium levels up. 😀

  • I’ve backed off on water consumption and have been two nights very comfortable. I binge watched some Dr. Berry You Tibes this morning. I have a lot of learning to do, but I’m loving this way of eating.

Tea and coffee are diuretics, they actually cause you to lose water and count negative.  I, too, am struggling with the magnesium/potassium problem balanced against the veggie carbs problem in trying to solve night time foot and leg cramps that cause me to lose a lot of sleep walking them off. I drink a fair amount of water, but half my drinks during the day are zero calorie electrolyte enhanced beverages like Gatorade, Powerade, Bai, Propel, and Cascade Ice.  Bai is sweetened with erythritol, the others with less desirable sweeteners.  I also drink a lot of Keto "Snake Juice", my version is 1tbsp ACV, 1tsp Lemon Juice, 1/4tsp Himalayan pink salt in a 12oz glass of water.  I also take a daily multi in the am and potassium and magnesium supplements before bed and eat lots of spinach and avocado.  Still with the dumb cramps.  The only downside of keto for me.
